English Language ArtsELA is not only reading and writing -- it's everything. Think about it. We use English skills when we post something on Facebook. We use English skills when we order fast food. We use English skills when we're sitting around a campfire talking to friends. English skills also find their way into our jobs! It's all around us, folks! As a teacher, I take a pragmatic approach to the skills ELA has to offer. My ELA philosophy is this -- Here is your tool box, I'll give you the tools you need, and you will use those tools across the curriculum, at home, on the job, in college, in grad school, and so on and so forth. The possibilities are endless with English Language Arts! (I even used my ELA skills in Peru. The picture was taken on Machu Picchu, Peru.)

HOMEWORK
Please email me if you need your homework sent to you. allison.kirk@k12.nd.us
WHS Homework Policy: If the assignment is late, it is an automatic zero. Students must fill in the "Late Homework" sheet along with their homework and hand it in. Once the assignment has been processed, the grade will increase to 50 percent. The idea here is to make sure students get their work in on time. There are exceptions, however. If a student is sick or absent from school, they need to visit with the teachers as soon as they return in order to get their work.
